Bringing the Classroom to You With Deployable Laptops

To support courses held throughout the USGS , the Office of Organizational and Employee Development (OED) is now offering deployable laptops. A "deployment" includes 11 student and one instructor laptop preloaded with all requested software. It also includes a screen projector and all necessary cables shipped directly to your training site.

Deployable laptops offer a number of advantages for USGS learners, course coordinators instructors and your local IT staff:

  • Laptops can be pre-imaged with your instructional software, eliminating the need to load and unload software individually on local office computers or on computers brought to class by students.
  • Instructional software will run identically on DECR Laptops based on common platforms eliminating software "glitches" caused by differences in local PC/laptop specifications.
  • Fast processors, large screens and high memory capacity support a great learning environment.

Services

For each DECR deployment OED will:

  • Install desired instructional software image (operating system and all necessary software) from a your prepared image onto each laptop before shipping.
  • Pack and ship all laptops along with a projector to your location in specifically designed hard cases with wheels.
  • Offer Initial and pre-course IT consultation with designated IT point of contact at your training site.
  • Provide initial and pre-course IT consultation with designated IT contact at your training site.
  • Provide return shipping of laptops.

Laptop Specifications

  • Pentium M750 Processor.
  • 15.4" WXGA Display.
  • 1 Gb Memory.
  • 60 Gb 5400 RPM HDD.
  • Internal/External Floppy Drive.
  • Internal 56K Modem.
  • Internal 16 port 10/100/1000 Netgear Switch.
  • 24X CDRW/DVD Combo Drive.

Deployment also includes high lumen screen projector, 12 ethernet cords, 2 extension cords, 2 power supply strips, all ac adaptors and a setup/configuration map.

Costs
