Instructional Design Document—Detailed Outline

V. Instructional Design Team

Explanation:

  • Lead Instructional Designer (primary instructor)
  • Other Instructional Designers (other instructors)
  • Subject-Matter Expert(s) (SME)
  • Illustrator(s)
  • Testers:
    • Student Testers
      • At least 2 student testers; no more than 5
    • A SME Tester, other than the one that is on the Design Team
    • OED Tester
      • Tj Lane
  • Editor (I suggest using an editor that is familiar with editing on-line documents as they will have some good input on usability from the user's perspective.)
  • Final Course Q/A Check
    • OED (Tj) and two OED Regional Employee Development Liaisons
    • SME. Find another SME that hasn't been involved with the design or testing of this course. It helps to have fresh eyes look at the course.

Please note: A Lead Instructional Designer and OED are required.

Lead Instructional Designer:
Al Di Meola, Hydrologist, USGS, WRD, Denver, CO; adimeola@usgs.gov

Responsible for:

  • writing the Instructional Design Document, with help from SME's and other instructors.
  • creating PPT lectures for Lessons 3, 5, 6, 7, and 9.
  • overseeing the entire course development effort.
  • transferring all PPT lectures from other instructors into Breeze.
  • writing the student evaluation form.

Additional Instructional Designers:
Charles (Chick) Corea, Hydrologist, USGS, BRD, Austin, TX; cacorea@usgs.gov

Responsible for:

  • writing PPT lectures for Lessons 1, 2, 4, 8, and 10.
  • writing print-based job aids/tip sheets
  • testing after each lesson is completed.

Illustrator:
Stanley Clarke, Visual Information Specialist, WRD, Denver, CO; jmevans@usgs.gov

Responsible for:

  • preparing all line diagrams.
  • preparing all photos for on-line delivery.
